Description
I was drawn to the intriguing story of Cynric, Second King of Wessex, and his meaning in the history of England. Highlighting his strength and determination while also conveying his humanity seemed to fit. A seemingly looted apparel, a subdued color palette and varied textures were used to capture the rich ethnic and cultural blend in the historical context of the era. Bravery and leadership were also in my mind, yet, while I believe that the first was achieved, the second did not appear in the picture after I realized that more elements, like people around him, would diminish the impact of the main subject.
